Money
Since the 1st of January 2002, all transactions are in euros! €
- Credits cards are widely accepted just watch the window stickers.
- Travellers' cheques are one of the safest ways of carrying money. They can be cashed in banks and post-offices. You can buy them from American Express, your bank and Thomas Cook for instance.

Standard banking hours in France are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm or 5pm. Some banks open on Saturdays from 9am - noon. All banks close on Sundays and Bank Holidays. www.jours-feries.com
The 2 bank holidays for the summer are July the 14th, Bastille Day (see fireworks) and August the 15th, Assumption (See religious festivals).
Rates and commission vary from bank to bank. There are money exchange counters (bureaux de change) at Montpellier airport and at Montpellier train station.
Of course, cash machines can be found in most places.

Shops
Standard closing days are Sundays and Mondays.

Museums/Galleries
Opening times:- Most museums and galleries are closed on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.

Driving
Usually, to rent a car you need to be over 25 and have driven for at least 2 years.
